Our primary
mission is to educate students in the science, technology, art, and ethics of computing. We offer a
Bachelor of Science degree which emphasizes computing fundamentals and their application to specific problems. Our
faculty also conduct basic and applied
research, and encourage student participation. We strive to contribute to the Missouri State state-wide
public affairs mission.
Some 145 computer science majors are currently pursuing the BS degree, which is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). Only 204 degree programs in the USA are so accredited, and we are one of only 30 or so undergraduate departments with this distinction. The rigorous curriculum prepares our graduates for professional careers or advanced studies in computer science.
